Personality: At the start of the series, Sakura has a deep infatuation for Sasuke Uchiha, rooted primarily in his good looks, cool attitude, and prodigious talents. Because of this, many of Sakura's early appearances are dedicated to her continuing effort to win his affection. As the story progresses and she begins to spend more time with Sasuke as a teammate, Sakura develops a concern that Sasuke will someday abandon her and the rest of Konohagakure in his quest for power. When her fears come true at the end of Part I, Sakura does all that she can to stop Sasuke from leaving, such as professing her love for him and offering to join him. Since then, Sakura has made it her personal goal to bring Sasuke home, which becomes a recurring component of her role in Part II. Although she still worries about his well-being and doesn't allow others to insult Sasuke, Sakura is willing to attack him if it means returning him to Konoha.

Sakura's relationship with Naruto Uzumaki, like with Sasuke, also changes throughout the series. When first teamed up together, Sakura views Naruto as a talentless idiot who deliberately tries to ruin her life. As the story progresses and Naruto continually shows his worth as a ninja as well as his dedication to his teammates, Sakura realizes that her initial perceptions of him were wrong. After Sasuke defects from Konoha at the end of Part I, Sakura pleads for Naruto to bring him back. Realizing the lengths Naruto will go to for her, Sakura spends the two-and-a-half years dividing Part I and II to training so that she can help Naruto during his next attempt. As they search for Sasuke during Part II, Sakura learns of the various hardships Naruto faces: the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox and Akatsuki. Saddened by the impact both forces have had on his life, Sakura becomes protective of Naruto and tries to do whatever she can to help him overcome these obstacles.

Within Sakura resides "Inner Sakura," a manifestation of her inner emotions. In addition to comic relief, Inner Sakura represents Sakura's actual opinion on things when she outwardly displays something opposite. The phrase has no literal meaning, but is usually translated as "hell yeah," "hell no," or "damn it" depending on the situation. Although she appears quite frequently at the start of the series, Inner Sakura all but disappears midway through Part I, her only other appearance being at the start of Part II. Sakura, likewise, now performs the emotional outbursts she once relied on Inner Sakura for, much to the dismay of those who are around her at the time.


Biography: Sakura Haruno is a character in the manga and anime Naruto. In the beginning of the manga, she is a Genin student of Hatake Kakashi's, but she later becomes a Chuunin under Tsunade's guidance.

Sakura has a crush on Uchiha Sasuke. This appears to be her main characteristic up until advanced stages of the series. She's often self-conscious about the size of her forehead and got teased by being called "forehead girl" at school (Yamanaka Ino, Sakura's childhood friend and now rival for Sasuke's affections, continues this honourable tradition). During the Chūnin exam, Sakura realizes that in her infatuation with Sasuke, she has neglected her duties as a team member - this coincides with her chopping off most of her hair (which she grew long because she thinks Sasuke likes long hair), which an attacking Otogakure shinobi, Kin Tsuchi, used to hold her by, thus symbolically freeing herself from her previous restraining tunnel vision. She still has a way to go before she fully deals with and reconciles her infatuation, however. Sakura starts out extremely disliking Uzumaki Naruto (who has a crush on her much like her own crush on Sasuke), but slowly starts respecting him over the course of their being a team.

In her early school years, Sakura was timid and was occasionally made fun of and bullied. That was until the popular Ino approached her and became her friend. Sakura looked up to Ino's looks and ability a lot; while she appreciated Ino's friendship, she couldn't help the feelings of inferiority she induced in her, as if Ino was a fully-bloomed flower and Sakura only a bud. Their friendship continued until it became clear that both of them liked Sasuke, and Sakura felt that she could never equal Ino, let alone surpass her at anything, while she was trapping herself as Ino's mere sidekick in her mind. She handed Ino her ribbon back and proclaimed that they were rivals from that point on.

And bitter rivals they were, until the second stage of the Chūnin exam, where Ino witnessed Sakura cut her own hair - even though it was "known" (or rather believed by the girls) that Sasuke liked girls with long hair - to set herself free from her captor. It was the moment that both of them were simultaneously stricken with the fact that there are more important things than teenage romance. Later, when they tied on their battle in the third stage preliminaries, Ino told Sakura that she finally had blossomed, and- each acknowledging the other as her equal- they became friends again, although they snap into (mild) rivalry mode again whenever Sasuke is mentioned.

Sakura's main strengths are her intelligence and her great chakra control. She was able to climb trees using her chakra while it took days of constant training for Sasuke and Naruto to manage it. However, Sakura's weakness lies in her lack of stamina and overall talent. She has only used a few skills over the course of the series, the most advanced of which is Kai (Or Cancel, for dispelling Genjutsu). On the other hand, Kakashi does note at one point in the story, that Sakura has a talent for Genjutsu.
Inside Sakura resides the "Inner Sakura", which ridiculously seems to be much more mean-tempered than Naruto's Kyubi. "Inner Sakura" seems to represent an assertive part of her personality and serves mostly comedy purposes as Sakura's typical gentle responses are juxtaposed with the inner Sakura's constant Shannaro, which doesn't mean anything but is usually translated as "Hell yeah", "Hell no" or "Damn it" depending on the situation. Sakura's having 'two minds' actually came in handy when Ino hit her with the Shintenshin no Jutsu ("Art of the Valentine" or literally "Body Mind Switch Technique"), Inner Sakura combating Ino's spirit where in the case of a regular person there would be no resistance. The same occurs in the manga after one of Naruto's inspirational comments causes Sakura's inner self to awaken and subsequently defeat the Art of the Valentine.

Currently, she is training under the Godaime Hokage Tsunade, as a ninja medic. This means that each of Team Seven (Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke) are now training with each of the legendary Sannin (Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru). This causes some to speculate that the three young ninjas will become the successors to the old Sannin.

Sakura, being trained by Tsunade, has learnt the Fifth Hokage's well-known "monstrous strength". After three months of training Sakura's progress makes Tsunade think that Sakura has the greatest talent in Medical ninjutsu she's seen since Shizune. Sakura's talent in medical ninjutsu and genjutsu and her amazing strength and progress in taijutsu and ninjutsu makes Kakashi think she might even surpass Tsunade. She is currently a Chūnin.

In the Naruto II arc, Sakura's skill and personality are shown to have changed drastically. She has developed an antidote for Sasori's poison which she used to save Kankurō's life, and which proved vital during the battle with Sasori.

RP sample: Sakura stood in, her partial friend, Ino Yamanaka’s flower shop glaring down the blonde headed girl. They had been fighting, like always, over Sasuke and who would get the right to date him if he ever did come back to Konoha.
The pink haired girl leaned over the check-out counter in the shop, growling at Ino who stood on the other side. Both of the girls’ eyes were twitching with anger, their fists clenched so tight their knuckles were white.
“What was that, billboard brow?!” Ino yelled at the top of her lungs, leaning forward furiously.
“Excuse me, Ino Pig?! WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?!” Sakura shouted, her Inner Sakura shining right through her today.
“Sasuke would never like you! Your forehead is too big and ugly!”
“And he wouldn’t like you because you’re fat and stupid like a nasty pig!” the pink haired girl hovered over Ino, trying to make herself taller and more intimidating.
“GET OUT OF MY FLOWER SHOP, BILLBOARD BROW!” Ino snarled, pointing her finger towards the door, commanding Sakura to get out.
“I was just gonna leave, PIG!” Sakura turned on her heel rapidly and stormed out of the building, slamming the innocent glass door shut as she left.

Abilities/powers/Jutsu:

Mystical Palm Technique:
This medical ninjutsu allows the user to speed up the body's natural healing process by sending chakra from their hands into a wound or afflicted body part. This allows the user to heal a patient without the need for medical equipment or surgery, making it highly useful on the battlefield. It can be used to treat both external and internal injuries. It is vital to match the amount of chakra used to the severity of the affliction or injury. This requires a great amount of chakra control. Because of this, only a few highly skilled medical-nin are able to use this technique. By sending an excess amount of chakra into the patient's body, the user can overload the patient's normal circulation, trapping them in a comatose state. Although this is usually undesirable, Kabuto Yakushi once effectively used this side effect to get Kiba Inuzuka out of his way.

Cherry Blossom Impact:
Sakura gathers an immense amount of chakra into her fists and then releases it on contact with an object, usually the ground, creating a devastatingly large crater. It is similar to Tsunade's Painful Sky Leg.
Delicate Illness Extraction Technique:

When a person has been afflicted by a pathogen or toxin, this medical ninjutsu can be used to draw out the agent and heal the damage. First the cause of the illness is determined by perceiving disturbances in the patient's chakra. Then, using a chakra scalpel, an incision is made into the affected part. Using their chakra, the medical-nin then draws out the agent, while simultaneously repairing the damage it caused. After the agent is drawn out, it can be used to create an antidote or medicine, which can then be given to the patient to ensure a complete recovery. This technique requires the utmost care and ability in diagnosis and incising and unmatched chakra control. Therefore, it is considered an extremely difficult technique, even among medical ninjutsu.

Chakra Enhanced Strength:
This is a jutsu in which the user focuses precise chakra control into their hands or feet to enhance their strength. Tsunade created the concept of this jutsu to intimidate enemies and keep them at bay while she heals injured ninja. This jutsu is a very practical, offensive technique for medical ninja because it is very intimidating and very effective in eliminating enemies so the medical-nin can return to their primary task of healing the injured as soon as possible. The training for this technique is arduous. Tsunade repeatedly came at Sakura with full power to help her learn. Naruto realizes that he should stop playing around when he sees Sakura perform Cherry Blossom Impact, because he realizes she could kill him. Another technique utilizing this is Tsunade's Painful Sky Leg.

Chakra Scalpel:
This medical technique forms one's chakra into a small, sharp blade. This can then be used for highly accurate incisions necessary for surgeries and anatomical dissections. Unlike regular scalpels, the chakra scalpel can actually make cuts inside the body without actually creating an open wound, limiting the risks of an infection. The chakra scalpel can also be used offensively, although it requires great precision to be effective. Because of this requirement, using the chakra scalpel offensively is highly unusual. In heated combat, even the greatest medical-nin won't be able to exert the precision needed to make fatal cuts, but it can still effectively cuts muscle tissues and tendons, rendering the target immobile.
